What Data We Collect

The WHOIS Lookup Tool collects minimal data necessary to provide its core functionality:

  • Extension Settings: Basic configuration preferences for the extension

Technical Data

  • Installation Metadata: Installation date and version for migration purposes
  • Error Logs: Technical errors for debugging (in development mode only)

External Services We Contact

To provide WHOIS and domain availability information, the extension contacts the following legitimate external services:

data.iana.org

Official registry for discovering RDAP servers for different TLDs

Verisign RDAP

rdap.verisign.com

Important Note

When you search for a domain, only that specific domain name is sent to these services to retrieve WHOIS information. No personal data, browsing history, or other sensitive information is transmitted.
